That’s the race I’m in.
It’s Ward 4, there are 4 candidates, and that means we should have a primary election on September 12.
That’s about 3 months from now.
84 days.
So I decided I better get in gear and get on those doors.
I did that today from about 11:45 to 12:30.
The noon hour.
Didn’t get a lot of action: only around 7 or 8 people answered their doors.
But I was able to look people in the eye, tell them who I am, and get a few of my talking points out there.
I even had one guy say he liked my card, which as you know, has all 56 Montana counties listed…which is useful when you want to figure out which license plates are from which areas of the state.
The first door I knocked on was a woman, I told her I was a conservative Democrat, and she said it’d be better if I was on the other end of the spectrum.
I figured I’d get comments like that – I’ve gotten them in the past – but especially today as I was hitting up the South Hills.
I knocked on 37 doors on Rimrock Way and Terrace Way.
I know this because I brought 60 cards and had 23 left when I was done.
Every door gets a card…most of the times crammed into the crack between the door and the frame.
And as this is my third time running for office, I really know how to make those cards stick in there so they don’t fall away.
There are 11,472 residents in Ward 4.
I made contact with a few of them today, and dropped off my card so more can learn about me later.
Maybe I’ll go out again tonight. We’ll see.
I was pretty dang sweaty after running from house to house!
It’s faster that way, running for office as opposed to walking.
Perhaps you’ll see me out there in your neighborhood soon. Thanks!
