After that tweet I started to think, ‘Who the hell is this person?’
I had to go back to a post I put up in 2017 called Is This Person MT Cowgirl?
I put that tweet up on Twitter last night, and whoa - people were interested!
Clearly, this is what people want to read about today.
Now, back in 2017, we pretty much figured that the Montana Cowgirl blog changed hands from Eric Stern to Erin Kelly. This would have happened after Bullock shit-canned Stern from the Governor’s Office when it became clear personnel cuts were needed.
Eric Stern brought relatively little to the table. He was completely expendable.
Now Eric is occasionally called upon to appear on political talk shows that air at 6 AM...that’s how important he is.
And Erin Kelly?
Sends out a few tweets now and again...that’s it.
The general consensus is that these were the people behind MT Cowgirl for years...meaning they were the ones that crafted and pushed the messages and talking points of the Montana Democratic Party.
That all came to a crashing end in 2018.
You might remember the ‘Santa Claus smoking’ post that graced that site’s homepage for months.
I’d show you an image, but I don’t have one. The MT Cowgirl blog was taken off of the internet over a year ago.
Nary a whimper was heard.
Democrats in Montana never mentioned this...the death of their main mouthpiece blog.
Don Pogreba quickly jumped in to fill that slot, and now all the Democratic office seekers put their guest post blogs on his site.
But it’s not the same.
MT Cowgirl was unique. It was an attack site that had so little confidence that it had to remain anonymous. Many figured that the multitude of comments that appeared on the site were not actual real people, but the site’s operators using fake names to further push their message, further push buttons.
Considering that MT Post doesn’t get nearly as many comments as Cowgirl once did, this seems plausible.
Oh...to fall from such lofty heights!
MT Cowgirl was the messenger for the better part of a decade...and then one day they weren’t.
Now all they can do is put out lame tweets chastising Republicans.
Huge difference from the lame blog posts they put up chastising Republicans.
And really...who cares?
Who cares what this person or people think? Remember...they’re so confident in their message that they can’t even use their real name.
Montana politics has changed substantially since Montana Cowgirl was king. Back when the site started, Brian Schweitzer was in office and Dems actually had a foothold in the legislature.
Now the legislature is gone to them and Schweitzer is in Arizona. The site that took over for Cowgirl has so little confidence that they attack commenters and threaten to sue people with opposing viewpoints.
MT Dems
They actually think they’re winning.
