It’s been 3 days.
I don’t really want to, though.
Not much is bothering me.
Yesterday I went out and bought some more plants for my house, got a little table fountain.
I’m trying to create a more warm and cheerful, friendly and inviting atmosphere in my home.
Mainly, I’m trying to create a safe zone for when everyone else goes crazy and the world starts to fall apart.
No, this isn’t another installment of our economic chaos series.
Mainly it’s just someone with little – and little to lose – thinking about our primaries.
I’m also thinking about what’ll happen after the last of the primaries.
Those final primaries come on June 7.
Full disclosure – the Washington D.C. Democratic Primary is on June 14 and it has 46 delegates at stake.
You’ll remember that back in March, the Democratic establishment tried to keep Bernie off the D.C. Primary ballot.
But who cares about D.C. anyways?
It’s the 806 delegates up for grabs in 4 days that everyone’s talking about.
Most of them are in California. The state has 546 up for grabs and it’s a neck and neck race.
New Jersey is another big state, with 142 delegates. After that most have about 25 to 40 or so.
Here in Montana we have 27 delegates and we know that 4 of our 6 super delegates have been bought off by Crooked Hillary.
So far just Tester and Bullock have remained on the fence.
They’re smart. They know if they were to show their true colors and support Crooked Hillary now they’d lose lots of support later on.
For Tester, that spells trouble in 2018.
Progressive Democrats like myself are watching and waiting for just such a fuck-up, just such an excuse to withhold our support that year.
I’ve already said that I’m looking far and wide for someone to primary Tester and I’ll continue to do so.
I’m not sorry, either. A man that continually says he’ll help veterans, but then cannot and then never even gets angry about it? I’m sorry, I don’t need that kind of person in my life.
So there’ll be thunder on the left and Tester already sees that it’s more than just a flash in the pan.
He sees that half the Democratic Party realizes that the other half is corrupt. At the same time he sees that the other half realizes its corrupt ways have been discovered and that half the party knows.
My, what a mess, what a broken party.
For the most part, we’ll continue to see the Hillary camp say that Bernie has no chance, that the race was over months ago.
The math’s not there…he’s burning through money…Hillary had it wrapped up months ago!
That’s what we hear from the corporate media.
My, they want Hillary, they want her bad.
Remember, the corporate media is nothing more than the mouthpiece of the rich, both the rich in this country and the rich around the world.
Remember how the rich treat you?
Yes, Hillary likes to work for the rich. She’ll work for them a lot should she get elected.
That’s why so many are hopping on the Trump train.
That train’ll be filling up fast after those June 7 primaries, it’ll be filling up even faster after those July conventions.
Of course, we could have lots of people hopping on the Bernie train. Many already have.
Should he pull off an upset and win big in California, perhaps in Montana and a few other states, then we might have some hope.
Wow, what if Hillary lost the nomination!
My God that’d be great.
So many Democrats would rally around him, tons of swing voters too. Hell, maybe even some of the Hillary supporters will fall into line.
I certainly won’t pressure them to, nor will I try and shame them into doing so.
Perhaps they’ll see the light, perhaps not. Either way, should Bernie get that nod we know that Trump will lose.
If Trump losing is so important, then we need to have Bernie. We already know that it’s very, very likely that Hillary will lose to Trump.
Should that be the contest, I’ll do my part to make sure Hillary loses.
I have no qualms about that – it’s just politics.
And that’s one of the reasons I’ve spent some time making my home more warm and friendly.
It’s going to get ugly out there in America over the next 5 months. I want a place to just get away from it all.
And really, when I turn off the news…none of this affects me, it just doesn’t.
I don’t own stocks, I don’t own a home, I don’t have a cushy job. Hell, my life is going to be exactly the same no matter who wins in November!
Tens of millions of Americans know the exact same thing.
It’s why no one votes.
The last “good” year we had was 1960, when 63% of Americans of voting age decided to vote.
Even that year when it was Kennedy vs. Nixon, 37% of Americans simply didn’t think voting mattered and didn’t waste their time doing it.
Today that’s risen to about 45% of Americans that could vote but that simply don’t.
- It doesn’t matter.
- It doesn’t change their lives.
- It doesn’t change one Goddamn thing.
It does create the illusion of change, however.
For the rich that control things, that’s great.
So I’m setting up my warm and friendly home and getting ready to use social media a lot less, check the news infrequently at best, and talk to people as little as possible.
Even friends and family are caught up in the non-stop political talk.
Remember, our corporate media wants it that way, as they’ve been shoving election news down our throats for a year now.
- Let’s not focus on the country of Venezuela falling apart.
- Let’s not focus on the 240,000 Syrian refugees and other migrants that have come across the Mediterranean this year, or the nearly 2,500 that died just this past month.
- Let’s not focus on the $3.6 trillion in infrastructure funding this country needs by 2020.
Let’s just not focus on that at all!
There’s a presidential race going on, and the rich need Hillary to maintain the status quo.
Trump must be labeled the enemy, thugs and miscreants must be rounded up to thwart his opponents.
My God, what is happening to us?
Why are we fighting each other when we know full well that it’s the rich in their gated communities that are the enemy?
Well, we’ve been brainwashed by the corporate media.
So I buy my plants, listen to my fountain, and sit back in my safe and warm place.
It’s about to get ugly out there, real ugly indeed.
