Trump killed Elijah Cummings.
Oh, it didn’t happen last night...when the 23-year veteran of the U.S. House died.
It happened in July.
That’s when Trump called Cummings out.
Mainly it had to do with Baltimore, the area that Cummings represented.
It’s “a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess” that “no human being” would want to live in, Trump said.
And he was right.
Cummings himself pointed out how much of a hellhole Baltimore was back in 1999, and there’s video to prove it.
But who cares?
I remember when the backlash came against Trump for his audacity to speak out against Cummings.
Lasted about a week, if even that.
Then the drive-by-media found another story to latch onto, and Cummings and his district were forgotten.
In fact, we haven’t heard any news out of Cummings since then...not until he died last night.
Guy was younger than Trump, and probably in better shape. But he couldn’t stand up to the tongue-lashing that Trump gave him, he couldn’t stand up to the truth. And it ate away at him...until he died.
No one cares that Elijah Cummings died, just as no one cared that he ‘served’ America.
Want to know what people do care about?
They care about themselves.
They care about their families and friends and the bills they have to pay. Few are paying attention to the day-to-day of politics. It’s just too hard, when you have kids and jobs and responsibilities.
I can’t wait to see what Trump does next. I can’t wait to see how Democrats react to this. Always on the defensive, those Democrats.
I’d put a Trump sticker on my car, but I know the liberals here in Missoula would slash my tires or break my window if I did so.
