He’s a big name, er…was a big name.
Now he’s nothing.
Just like that, overnight. That’s how fast it can happen.
And Lauer has no one else to blame but himself. He knew what he did in Russia in 2014. He’s known for 3 years now that it might catch up with him. Over the past 2 months, he must have known with a great deal of certainty that he could be next.
It’d be interested to see what he said about all theses sexual abuse scandals over the past few months, considering that he himself was a sexual predator.
I never much liked him; knew he had some kind of problems as far back as 2013 when he got Ann Curry fired, claiming he just couldn’t work with her.
That’s something we hear a lot from men in high positions, men that find themselves working with strong women – they just can’t work with them.
Undoubtedly, the woman will be the one to go.
We saw this clearly with Angela McLean 2 years ago.
Tick tock…tick tock.
My oh my…with new revelations coming out each day, it’s kinda hard to remember where this all started.
It was Thursday, October 5.
Just 55 days ago.
That’s when the NY Times came out with their Harvey Weinstein story. He issued an apology that day. By Sunday he’d been fired from his company. By Tuesday his wife announced she was leaving him.
By that time over 2 dozen women had come forward accusing the media mogul, the once-untouchable Hollywood icon. At least 7 women have now accused him of rape.
- Then on October 11, actor Ben Affleck – who’d come out strongly against Weinstein – was accused of groping someone on MTV back in 2003. There were videos to prove it.
- On October 17, the head of Amazon Studios – Roy Price – resigns over sexual harassment allegations.
- On October 22, over 3 dozen women came out against screenwriter James Toback, accusing him of sexual assault. Within days the number of women had grown to 300 or more.
- On October 26, a second woman came forward, accusing President George H.W. Bush of groping them and grabbing their behinds while taking photos. The number of women has now risen to six, including a 16-year-old in 2003.
- That same day, ABC News suspended and later fired Mark Halperin after half a dozen women came forward with sexual allegations, a number which eventually grew to over a dozen women.
- On October 30 we learned about Kevin Spacey’s proclivity for teen boys. He chose the moment to come out of the closet.
- On November 9, comedian Louis CK had five women come forward accusing him of sexual misconduct, and his career was over.
- On November 20, eight women came forth accusing CBS/PBS’s Charlie Rose of sexual misconduct. He was fired the next day from both networks.
And then this morning we learn about Matt Lauer.
Boy oh boy!
There are tons of names I’m missing.
- We’ve got actors like Jeffrey Tambor, Dustin Hoffman, Richard Dreyfuss, Jeremy Piven, Steven Seagal, Tom Sizemore, George Takei, and more.
- In publishing we have Hamilton Fish, Michael Oreskes, Stephen Blackwell, Glenn Thrush, Matt Zimmerman, and more.
- In politics we have Roy Moore, Stephen Bittel, John Conyers, Al Franken, Jeff Hoover, and more.
We have the doctor for Olympic teen girls getting charged and we have tons of cases that we don’t even know about…yet.
Tick tock…tick tock.
I’ve no doubt that these sexual misconduct stories will come to Montana. I’ve no doubt that they’ll embroil politics.
Should have happened 2 years ago, but Democrats protect their own. Democratic women protect their own. The alternative – a Republican in the governor’s office – was just too dire to think on.
So we have enabling.
I wonder how many more women in Montana will be taken advantage of before the truth comes out.
Tick tock…tick tock.
