Well, that’s not true - the stimulus checks came through.
I noticed a lot more 20-somethings at the grocery store this evening. I suspect many of them were out of money until the feds gave them money this week.
I think a lot of Missoula’s 20-somethings have already moved back in with their parents. It’s kind of the millennial thing to do anyways...never grow up and just stay with mom and dad.
I checked the apartment rentals at the beginning of the month and it was astounding how many apartments were up for rent.
Rental prices are going to collapse as competing landlords - desperate to pay their mortgages - slash prices in an attempt to attract renters...any renters.
My God...if you have excess real estate that’s not producing income - sell it.
Sell it now.
Sell it while you can...while the banks are still lending money to buyers.
A year from now, we not only won’t have buyers, we won’t have renters. I live in a three-plex, and I suspect a year from now just one of the three apartments will be occupied.
One of the biggest reasons common people in this country don’t see the writing on the wall is because they only get their ideas from corporate media.
Why would large corporations want to tell you the truth...that things are really bad and only going to get worse.
Panic would result. If you still live in under the illusion that ‘we’re all in this together’...then please read this article.
Pretty soon, no one’s going to care about anyone, least of all their neighbors.
New York said it won’t reopen until at least May 15.
I don’t blame them - the governor there has done an abysmal job. The only thing he knows how to do is a press conference.
He’s made everything else worse.
Cuomo 2020 talk really died down this week as more and more people realized this man has no idea what he’s doing.
In fact, his main city is a mess.
And yet he didn’t need as many hospital beds as he said he would; not as many ventilators as he claimed.
Like most of the ‘important people’ in this country, Cuomo was plagued with so much fear that he ruined millions of lives.
Still gets paid $250,000 a year.
Leaders.
Trump says Montana can open today.
That doesn’t help Bullock. He says we have a big problem, and if we reopen too early, we could lose more lives.
Bullock is more afraid of losing his November election than he is of losing anymore Montana lives.
Bullock doesn’t care who’s died. These are meaningless statistics to him. He has money to raise. Defeating Daines is his priority. If he doesn’t do that, he’s a has-been.
What a dilemma.
Counties around the country are rapidly running out of money.
When they do run out, wow...lots of government workers will lose their jobs.
This job loss will be labeled temporary, but most will never work in those offices again. There will be no 25-year retirement for those folks.
Pensions that were already shaky simply won’t be paid. Pensions were a mess before this. Now states are running out of money.
The federal government doesn’t have money. They have over $20 trillion in debt.
So the Federal Reserve will step in...a private bank that cares nothing for you or I.
Here in Missoula, city ‘leaders’ should be cutting costs drastically while furloughing workers to prevent the hemorghing of the general fund...but allowing them to still access their corporate healthcare plans.
Instead of these sensible actions, the city is actually set to ramp-up spending. Over $1 million will be spent on a run-down hotel, and then at least $100,000 over the next quarter to maintain it and get it up to code.
The city actually thinks it can bulldoze this property in a few months and build ‘affordable housing.’
Who’s going to buy it when the banks aren’t lending?
Anyone who doesn’t see a massive housing crash on the horizon doesn’t realize how the world works.
People will not be able to sell; people will not be able to buy.
The banks have no money and they won’t lend. When the feds bail them out, they still won’t lend.
If you have excess properties you don’t need...sell now while you can.
Save your cash. Yes, we’ll have inflation and we’ll have deflation. No one can predict how much or when or what follows the other.
If you have money, save it.
Most Americans can’t do that, because they’ve lived lives of delusion and excess and now it’s catching up to them.
This is the market working. Sadly, our government is bailing these people out.
We’ll never learn.
I think South Dakota’s governor has an incredible political future ahead of her.
Her name’s Kristi Noem. No one heard of her until a week or so ago.
Her press conference saying that it’s not the government’s job to take care of you...it’s your job - that was amazing.
Trump took his cue from her with his reopening stance. He’s going to leave it up to the states, both allowing them to take the lead...and the blame.
It’s not the federal government’s job to take care of you.
Noem is a farmer/rancher. Her dad died when she was young, and she took over the farm. Got her poly-sci degree mostly online over a decade.
She’s the real deal, and I suspect she’ll head back to Congress when her gubernatorial term is over. She’ll take over for either Thume or Rounds, both Republicans, but neither have the popularity she does.
Remember, the Sioux Falls meat-packing plant was always going to be labeled as essential, so was always going to stay open.
One of the biggest things with Noem is she’s not scared of the corporate media, and that’s why the corporate media is deathly afraid of her.
Their attacks on her have ramped-up as a result.
It’s important to remember that the global HQ of corporate media is in New York.
It’s the center of their universe, this one little city in America. That’s why we hear so much about New York each day...even though that city and its people have very little impact on our daily lives.
That silly talk last week that we’d be seeing the worst week in this country since Pearl Harbor and 9/11?
Nothing happened.
For millions of Americans, nothing changed.
Well...that’s not quite true- their distrust of the corporate media went way up.
Glasgow has become the most Nazi-like community in our country, perhaps our world.
Glasgow is the county seat of Valley County. About 3,500 people live there.
This is where Dr. Anne Millard practices, at the Glasgow Clinic. She’s a Texan.
She’s also the Health Officer for the Valley County Board of Health.
She was the one that said citizens had to have a pink armband if they went outside. County commissioners - accurately realizing this would do immense damage to their community - quickly rescinded the order.
The people of Glasgow need to get this woman out of their government as fast as
they can.
Like most of pop culture, things in the music industry have ground to a halt.
We do still have the Billboard 100, however. I personally believe Doja Cat’s “Say So” will soon take the #1 spot, if “Adore You” by Harry Styles doesn’t.
Both are currently #8 and #7, respectively.
James Conner...it’s time to reopen.
Please start writing again. We need your perspective.
We need your courage, your intelligence, and your years of wisdom. I certainly won’t agree with all you write, but by God, start writing it.
We need you.
