I caught the Griz game this weekend.
Saw a lot of political types at the game, but the one that stuck in my mind most of all was Clay Christian.
Yep...the Commish.
Talk about an asshole on our elbow.
Back in 2014, this guy collected a $351,306 pay package.
Two years after that story we learned that Clay actually doesn’t even show up to his office. I know this because I called his office and confirmed it.
Anyways, I saw Clay walking around the Griz stadium on Saturday. I always see him at home games. Typically he wears blue jeans and a dress shirt. And the look on his face? The kind of look you’d expect from an overpaid individual that has nothing in common with the people he purports to represent.
While we might feel like voting for the 6-mill this year, assholes on elbows like Clay Chritian will continue to make sky-high salaries.
Got a kid going to college? We’ll take a lot of the money you pay in tuition to make sure Clay gets his $351,000 salary.
It’s important that Clay gets that money.
Imagine the terrible situation that Montana’s universities would be in if Clay wasn’t paid so much.
Young people simply wouldn’t go to college here, it’s as simple as that.
Actually, without Clay…I’m not sure we’d even have a university system.
I’m not sure we’d have a school system. While it’s true that teachers start out at $46,000 a year, it’s also true that we pay Clay over $300,000 more than them.
It’s because we know who’s important.
Yes, it’s true that Clay doesn’t teach. It’s true that he has no direct impact on Montana’s young.
But by God, we’ll pay him like he’s important.
$351,000 a year.
It’s important for Clay to walk around Griz stadium every Saturday.
He wants people to see him in his blue jeans and his dress shirt and his blue button-down. He wants to feel needed.
It’s important for Clay to feel like a regular Montanan, and it’s important for you to know that.
So next time you see Clay walking around the stadium, go ahead and give him a ‘hello’ for me.
The middle finger works best.
