We have very few viewpoints to read each day anymore.
A couple days ago his topic was Raph Graybill, and how the 31-year-old should take the place of outgoing Kurt Alme to become US Attorney for the District of Montana.
I think this is a terrible idea, for 6 main reasons.
#1 No Experience
Raph Graybill has no experience in the courtroom actually prosecuting or defending someone. This was a big issue during the campaign, and you no doubt heard it in the TV and radio ads.
#2 Silver Spoon
One of Graybill’s only claims to any kind of office in Montana is the fact of who his grandpa was...someone that many in the state don’t even remember. Without his name, Raph would be just another nobody. But for Montana Dems, it’s important to keep those well-connected from our past, as well as the educated elite, moving up the political totem pole. No, let’s not face the facts that this strategy doesn’t work and hasn’t worked in years. Let’s just keep saying it’s the GOP that’s out of touch with reality, not the Dems.
#3 The Second Worst Loser
Graybill has only run for political office once, and that was a shot at the statewide AG race. He lost by over 101,000 votes. The only person that did worse than him was Bryce Bennett, who lost by 113,000. I’m sorry, but what made him think he could win in the first place...with no political experience? Who was the genius that prodded him to do that?
#4 State Leadership Wants Him
The only reason Don is putting up a post pushing Graybill for this consolation prize of US Attorney is because Dem state leadership wants him to. Don doesn’t really think for himself on such issues like this, just takes the marching orders. And if the idiots in state leadership that can’t win a race to save their lives want Graybill, I’m pretty sure the rest of the state does not.
#5 Graybill for Governor 2024
Do you want to see Raph Graybill running for governor in 2024 against Gianforte? I don’t, but if he has the springboard of the US Attorney position to keep his name in the media for the next four years, then he probably will be running. That’s what this post by Don is all about - a desperate attempt to install someone, anyone, onto the Dem bench so they can at least field a semi-viable candidate in four years. They have no one right now, no one.
#6 He’s Boring
Name one issue that Raph Graybill supported during the campaign. I can’t. I suppose I could knock-off some Dem Party talking points like climate change and a woman’s right to choose, but I can’t think of anything Raph said. It’s because he’s boring. Worse, he can’t really think for himself, can’t really come up with any of his own issues. And nothing he said during his campaign excited the electorate, at all. It’s why he lost by over 101,000 votes.
Chances are extremely good that Raph Graybill will become the next US Attorney here in Montana.
Why?
Because it seems likely that Biden will take office on January 20, and if that happens, he’ll have to pick a new attorney for this state.
He’ll ask Dems that are in the know on such things, like maybe his old friend Max Baucus, or perhaps Tester or Bullock or any of the other top brass and old dogs of the party.
So we’ll likely get stuck with Graybill, and in 2024 he’ll probably run for governor.
Yeah...no political experience, no trial experience, no issues he can call his own, entitled, and the second biggest loser of the 2020 races.
What could go wrong?
