When we’re afraid, we’re blaming someone else for our problems. Many other countries have learned this strategy from us.
Today I’d like to talk about a few of the things that scare us…and why they shouldn’t.
Also, I’d just like to point out some downright silly things that are happening in the world, but don’t need to be happening.
Yeah, most of the things we see now are happening because the rich want it that way.
Rich people like chaos and uncertainty, because they profit off of it.
We’re talking arms dealers, bankers, and multinational corporations. They love fear, for it causes their sales to skyrocket.
There’s no better example of this than Iran.
Israel is Iran’s Cuba
Yeah, I don’t either. I bet your parents might, however.
Back then, Cuba was the devil. Anything that was bad in America was Cuba’s fault. If we could just get rid of that bastard Castro and take that place over, all of our problems would be solved.
Sound familiar?
Yeah, that’s about the same argument that Iran is using right now about Israel.
Iran continually says that they need to blow Israel off the map. Just yesterday the Ayatollah there said that Israel only has 25 years left.
But you know what? There was nothing to be afraid of.
All that time we hated Cuba, we really just let our own country go to hell. Worse, the corrupt leaders at the top benefited from this.
That’s what’s happening in Iran right now – they blame all their problems on Israel so that the upper crust at the top that got there because of those problems can stay there and continue to profit. The last thing they want are for those problems to go away.
Now, by the same token, the last thing they want is for Israel to go away.
My God, who would you blame for your problems?
Here in America we haven’t really been able to blame Cuba for anything in quite some time. Oh, maybe Elian Gonzalez…but that was 15 years ago.
I think it was that incident that made us realize that Cuba could no longer be blamed. It wasn’t long after that that we saw Afghanistan become the real bane of our existence.
I don’t know what Israel will do if that nuclear deal goes through? I mean, who are they going to blame?
It’ll be rough for them, not being able to say that they’re the only one with nukes in the Middle East. Well, you know the Saudis have them because we give them everything, so smitten are we with those people.
No, I expect we need to have an Iran Deal so Iran can get nukes, the arms dealers can have that arms race, and the American people can get all up in arms about something other than their real problems.
Cuba…Afghanistan…either way, we blame others for our problems so we don’t have to fix them.
Isn’t it time we team up with the downtrodden and dispossessed of Iran and kick the leaders of both our countries out?
The Looker
Well, that’s not true – he does a damn fine industrial plant tour, weapons inspection, or nodding fest.
By the latter I mean someone semi-important pointing out something that is important so that you can nod to it quite a few times before walking on to nod at something else.
My God, are we really scared of this kid?
I mean, the guy goes around his bankrupt country and looks at industrial relics of the past.
True, he sometimes looks at missiles that may or may not fly a few hundred miles before falling into the ocean, but gosh darn, are we going to get up in arms over some longer-than-usual fireworks?
North Korea is so unintimidating that it’s not even funny.
But you know what? We need to keep 28,000 troops on the southern border of their country because we’re scared shitless that they’ll overrun South Korea if we don’t.
Well, let’s clarify that. Top military brass and armchair politicians are scared – I could care less.
Yeah, I could care less about South Korea – let the damn country go.
I mean, that’s what would happen if we pulled out, right?
Because we sure as shit know that China or Japan or some European country isn’t going to go in there and take care of Asia’s backyard. No, that’s America’s job.
Bullshit – pull those troops out and send them home.
Europe’s Moat
It’s alright if you don’t know.
More than 2,000 have died this year according to Think Progress. CNN put it at 2,381 at the end of August.
Do you know how many died in 2014, or 2013 even?
3,218 people died trying to cross the Mediterranean in 2014. I have no idea on 2013.
Whoa…you mean this has been going on before NBC News started to talk about it for 38 seconds each night?
Yep, and it’s probably been going on for the last five years or so, ever since the war in Syria started. Some say it's been nine years.
And it’ll keep going on.
I can’t wait to see when Europe fills up. Oh, and don’t buy any of this German bullshit – they may be handing out toys and food now, but they sure chain Greece and other countries to the cold steel slab of debt.
I think Germany’s trying to build up a good international image so they can take the world’s eyes off of the financial crisis they’ve created.
Oh, and they’d also like us all to forget that Europe has no borders. They have a fine moat, but they have no borders.
That shouldn’t be too hard, as America has none either, and our corporate media has been trained not to report on that for years.
After all, we don’t want borders in this country or any country. That’s what “free trade” means and that’s the effect of all those trade deals Democrats have been signing for years.
Oh, and the next time you get angry about America’s nonexistent border, think about vegetables.
Do you like eating them? Because if we had a border with Mexico, you wouldn’t be.
With healthcare costs and other costs of doing business what they are, do you honestly believe that a picking company will be able to hire Americans?
Ha, let’s just stop talking about this, alright?
Helping People
I laughed when I saw this Tweet yesterday:
It was great to talk about protecting Social Security & Medicare with folks from MT @seniorcorps. #mtpol pic.twitter.com/FgpPY59Y39
— Senator Jon Tester (@SenatorTester) September 9, 2015
I bet it was nice to “talk about” something, though I bet if those two people knew that Tester was going to do nothing they’d be a little angry.
That’s not quite true – Tester will continue to ignore our shrinking Social Security fund while continuing to fund programs that send our money overseas.
Tester is voting for the Iran Deal, which will allow Iran to develop a nuclear weapon and attack Israel.
It’s likely they’ll just use their nuclear arsenal as leverage against the West, however. That means other Middle Eastern states will need to beef up their arsenals, nuclear or otherwise.
Did I mention that Jon Tester is great for the military industrial complex? Montana hardworking folks? Eh…not so much.
Now, don’t get me wrong – Tester could get up on the Senate floor and do a filibuster and attract media attention to our Social Security nightmare.
Again, he chooses not to do this.
How would that benefit him? I mean, he doesn’t have to look like he cares about you until 2018…what incentive is there for him to play the populist card when we all know who’s paying his way?
Yeah, Jon Tester takes from huge corporations. He loves dark money. It’s one of the main reasons your internet is so slow – those companies pay him to keep quiet on that.
Conclusion
We have politicians that don’t care about us, arms dealers that sell weapons to our enemies, and corporations that rip down our borders, effectively doing away with our sovereignty.
Why do we put up with this?
