We’re 10 days into November.
That means Monica Lindeen has already made $2,000 of her $6,000 monthly salary.
That’s a lot of money...and for what?
The MT Dems’ website is shit.
It tells you absolutely nothing. At least the Dems hired a MT company to redesign their site. You might remember me telling you a few years ago that the MT Dems actually had an out-of-state company doing that.
Yeah, it’s clueless - especially when you claim you want to create Montana jobs.
You also might remember that the Montana Republicans had their site designed by a company in Germany.
That’s the thing - the Montana Republican Party is in such disarray right now that the Montana Democrats should be doing better.
But they don’t have any leaders, so they can’t do better.
The ‘leader’ in Helena already made $2,000 this month as she heads toward the exit. We’ll pay her another $10,000 this year to sit on her fat ass in an office on Sixth Street.
That office is in a mansion, one bought during the tenure of Max Baucus.
Yep...the down-to-earth, we-support-the-common-man Democrats work out of a mansion. The GOP works out of a rented office site...if they even have that.
What a waste these Democrats are.
And what a gift.
For years I chided the Montana Democrats for losing so much and so often. I wanted them to improve, to get better, to win.
No longer.
Now I simply want them to stay just as they are. If I had my way, I’d have Lindeen in the ol’ Sixth Street HQ for years to come.
What a gift it is for Republicans to have a woman like that in charge.
I told you last week that my greatest desire is to have Jorge Quintana take over at Dem HQ.
A Cuban refugee? A New Yorker?
What a gift that would be for Republicans!!!
One of the greatest gifts that Montana Democrats are giving to Republicans is Steve Bullock.
For over a year now, Bullock has abdicated all duties in Montana so he can pursue his vanity run for president.
No one thinks he can win.
Few if any think he can land a cabinet position from this vanity run.
It’s been a gift to the GOP because the highest elected Democrat in Montana has made it painfully clear that he doesn’t want to be in Montana. He doesn’t want to listen to the problems that Montanans have. He doesn’t care.
Montana Democrats are rudderless.
They have no leaders.
One ‘leader’ gave up on his job shortly after winning his second term in ‘16, and the other ‘leader’ is just trying to get that extra $10,000 in the bank before she hangs it up for good and heads to her house on the lake.
And it’s not just the paid staff and the elected officials that are giving up - the comms people have given up as well.
The MT Cowgirl blog no longer exists. It’s been completely taken down from the internet. You can’t even look at the years of back posts they had.
Eric Stern ran that, followed by Erin Kelly. Both ran afoul of Bullock as he began his vanity run. The site was started back in the Schweitzer years. There’s another guy that gave up on Montana - lives in Arizona now.
For a short time, you saw MT Dem candidates put their ‘learn-about-me’ posts on the MT Post blog.
I think that ended when people realized how thin-skinned Don Pogreba was, how short of a fuse he has, and how he can’t stand criticism and must lash out at anyone that questions him or his positions.
Weakness...the Montana Democrats have that in spades.
Over the past three years, the Montana Democrats kneecapped themselves:
- Bullock ran for a second term knowing full-well he was going to give up on the state for his vanity run.
- Nancy Keenan began hiring a ton of out-of-state staff, one of whom was the New Yorker Roy Lowenstein, who I hear is now working for Tester.
- With Nancy in charge, all effort to win a chamber of the legislature went out the window as the staff at Dem HQ was directed to put all of their time and effort into fundraising...mainly so those staffers could keep their jobs.
- Nancy started the trend - and Monica continued it - of subverting all the statewide Democratic candidates, simply by siphoning off the fundraising dollars those candidates could raise because it was more important that Dem HQ and the out-of-state staffers get those fundraising dollars.
For Democrats in Montana, it’s more important to enrich the unelected staffers from out-of-state than it is to elect second- and third-generation Montanans to statewide offices.
What a gift, what a gift for Republicans!
Dems will waste another $10,000 paying Monica this year before they hire a new ‘boss’ in January.
Dems will then pay that new boss the same $6,000 a month salary...to lose.
Yep, $72,000 will be spent in 2020 to pay the salary of whoever’s in charge at Dem HQ.
- Guess how many statewide offices the Dems will win next year? Zero.
- Guess how many PSC races they’ll win: Zero.
- Guess how many rural legislative seats they’ll win: Zero.
This is how the Dems want it.
They’ve spent years enriching themselves while the Party crumbles. Our governor has spent over a year on his vanity bid while ignoring the state he’s being paid to run.
What a gift for Republicans!
But the greatest gift it still to come.
This is the Dems’ anger, and their petulance, and their propensity to lash out at anyone that questions them, or - God forbid - criticizes them.
Their greatest weakness comes from their lack of confidence, which itself comes from a years-long inability to win.
So set in their ways are they that Dems in Montana will keep pulling plays from the same ol’ tired playbook, thinking that if the state just looked the same way as it did 30 years ago, those plays will work.
The Dems are played-out, with old and tired leaders that no longer have any fight left in them...unless it’s fighting over their paychecks.
How much money can we take for ourselves before the ship sinks? That’s the Montana Democratic strategy, has been for years now.
