I won’t be able to run outside with my shirt off anymore.
It’ll be getting too cold soon.
I mostly do it to get a tan. But a big part of it is showing off.
I thought about that as I stood at a busy intersection, waiting for the ‘walk’ signal.
It struck me that most of the people sitting in their cars playing on their phones waiting for the light to change are hopelessly unhappy with their lives and what’s become of them.
None of them could run outside with their shirts off. First of all, most couldn’t run more than a hundred feet or so. Next, you wouldn’t want to see what they look like with their shirts off.
They don’t like the look of themselves with it off when they’re in the bathroom looking in the mirror.
They hate how they look; they hate what’s become of their lives.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
They were supposed to get out of college and land that dream job, marry that dream person, have that dream body and the dream house with the dream vacation.
Now ten or twenty years on, turns out those were just dreams.
Got a shit-ton of college debt, a crummy job, a shitty spouse, a shittier body, and if there is a house it’s mortgaged to the gills. Oh…and what vacation?
- Just 28% take a vacation each year.
- 74% of us are overweight or obese.
Yeah…3 out of every 4 people you see are too fat…and that was before the pandemic. I’m sure it’s a lot worse now. We both know that most people sat their already fat asses down on the couch and reached for the Cheetos over the past year; they sure as shit didn’t reach for the jump rope.
During the pandemic the level of American happiness fell to 47%, the lowest it had been in over a decade.
So many people wish they could be someone else right now, or somewhere else…just about anything but who they are and where they are.
They’re fat, stupid, lazy and going nowhere.
So many people get up each day to go into a job they hate and have hated for years. They toil at that for eight hours, often eating very bad food while doing so to ‘ease’ their pain.
Then they finally get to go home. But first it’s off to the nearest drive-thru to get dinner, because they of course don’t have time to cook at home.
After thirty minutes of waiting in line there they eat in the car on the way home then get inside to stuff their faces with more garbage, all while watching corporate television, which is nothing more than 20 to 25 minutes of ads for every hour of ‘programming.’ Most of the ads they watch encourage them to become even unhappier, typically through the overconsumption of sugar, fat, and salt.
To make them feel even worse about themselves, the corporations bombard them with images of what they’ll never be - a healthy, in-shape person with a great smile and tan and head of hair to boot. Many times they’ll be shirtless.
Makes you feel so ‘good’ ya gotta reach for another can of soda.
Boy they got us by the short hairs, don’t they?
Well, not all of us.
Some of us realized how rotten it all is a long, long time ago. So we got rid of the TV and the corporate programming that’s synonymous with it. We began skipping 25 out of the 30 aisles in the grocery store, you know…the ones that shelf the FDA-approved poisons. We became more social with the people around us and got rid of the anti-socialness of the stranger-friends on ‘social’ media that we never really knew.
But most of all, we stopped listening to others and we started listening to ourselves. We became less concerned with what ‘they’ were doing and what ‘they’ were saying and more in tune with what our own bodies and mind and inner intelligence was telling us.
And we’re happier because of it, a lot happier.
Yes, it’s true the world is crumbling around us! There are so many problems it’s not even funny.
- We have 5 million illegal aliens that have come across the border since Biden came into power.
- 900,000 of these are “gotaways” that the government doesn’t even care about anymore.
- 107,000 mostly young Americans died last year from drug overdoses, most of it fentanyl from China via Mexico.
There’s nothing you can do about that but get angry and more unhappy. So don’t.
Instead, make changes in your daily life to make things better.
There’s nothing you can do about the energy collapse in Europe or the millions of migrants rushing across our border. You can’t do anything about corrupt CEOs and record corporate profits. The fake news media will never care what you want to hear. Politicians aren’t interested in your opinions.
But you can stop listening to all that by tuning-out. You can improve your own life in so many ways.
Figure out how you can start running with your own shirt off…the sooner the better.
