They ran my letter-to-the-editor on Friday.
This is a big deal, because they don’t run letters on Saturday. So my letter gets to stay on their homepage for two days, not the usual one.
The letter is about schools, and how they should reopen full-time.
I use quotes from Dr. Anthony Fauci, the head of the CDC, and even the governor of New York (someone I despise).
All say that schools should be reopened.
The densely packed city of New York has their kids in school five days a week. But here in Missoula, we allow them to go for just two days.
Why?
Why is this?
What science do we have to back this up?
After all, the leading experts in the country say we should reopen.
But in Missoula, they’re going to keep going just two days a week until January, and I fully expect they’ll do it until the end of the year.
It’s such a shame.
Why are the people that are supposed to care about our kids doing this?
Why are they setting up our children for a monumental increase in the possibility of:
- Drug abuse
- Alcoholism
- Suicide
- Teen pregnancy
- Depression
- Lifetime low earnings
Why are the schools doing this to us?
Why are the schools ruining parents’ lives, and setting up our children for a lifetime of depression, both economically and emotionally?
Why?
