Hey, way to go!
You’ve paid your $15 to file, you might even have a campaign website and some money could be rolling in.
Alright…now what?
Running for office is hard, mainly because no one knows who you are.
I’m willing to make that a little easier for you…and at no charge.
All you need to do is send me your campaign flyer, brochure, walking card, matchbook or whatever.
Yeah, matchbook…they used to do ‘em:
That’s some old Arnold Olsen campaign literature I found up at the Historical Society.
Some of us like to profile that campaign literature, and I know James Conner up at Flathead Memo is one.
He’ll write about you as well, if you email him. Check out this post.
To get your stuff on my site, it’s simple. Send your literature to:
Greg Strandberg
2320 Livingston Ave. #1
Missoula, MT 59801
This offer stands for Democrats or Republicans.
Just send me what you’d send a voter, or give to a voter if you knocked on their door.
I did this a lot two years ago, and you can read about my campaign walking cards and a bit more if you’d like.
Also, check out some of the times I went out walking and knocking and also the time I got over a serious campaign setback.
You can learn from that.
Or not – it’s up to you.
It’s up to you to figure out how you’ll reach voters, too.
A good way is with a website, so at least when people type your name into Google something beneficial for you will come up.
- Maybe that’s your website.
- Maybe that’s a newspaper article.
- Maybe that’s my site showing your walking card.
Either way, you’ve got to get your name out there first. The easiest way is to wait for March 14 and the filing deadline.
You know the local newspaper will list your name then. At that point people will Google you.
Yeah right – who are we kidding?
No one’s going to Google you…at least until election time in October/November.
And if you’re in a primary? Well, good luck with that.
So it’s hitting the doors and writing letters to the paper and being active on social media.
Oh, and by active on social media, I’m not talking about making a fool of yourself.
Something that works a lot better are sponsored posts. Here, take a look at two of Gianforte’s that I saw on Facebook 24 hours apart.
So that’s effective.
Think about things that will be effective for you. Then get out there and do them.
There’s just over 4 months until the primary. It’ll come up on you quick.
