Like…the people running for office don’t really care about you.
They care about the people that give them money. You just vote for them. That’s not worth as much.
Deep down, you know this is true.
You know our political system is rotten, it doesn’t work for you, and it doesn’t care about you.
In fact, it uses you to enrich the already rich.
There’s nothing you can do about this. Voting will change nothing. Whether it’s a D or an R in office, nothing ever changes.
You know this.
So far into the 2022 election cycle in Montana, Democrats have raised $3.1 million to the GOP’s $3.3 million.
The GOP is killing the Dems when it comes to fundraising for the two U.S. House races. This indicates the Republicans will steamroll the Dems in November.
But we knew that already, due to the abysmal job performance of Joe Biden.
71% of Americans do not want that old codger to run again. This includes 54% of Democrats and 77% of independents.
He’s done. Lame duck before his last two years even start.
This is a big reason why the Republicans are killing it when it comes to fundraising in Montana.
Zinke has raised $3.7 million to Monica Tranel’s $1.2 million.
Rosendale is doing well, too. He’s raised $1.6 million to the Dem’s paltry $63,000. In that race, the Independent candidate has actually raised twice as much than the Dem - $127,000. The Libertarian has $20,000.
So far, 56% of the money our various House candidates have raised has come from Montana.
16% comes from California, 10% from Texas, 8% from Florida, 6% from New York, and 3% from Washington.
$2.9 million came from Montanans; $2.3 million came from out-of-staters.
This is important, because the way our political system is set up, donors are more important than voters.
When a person is elected, they’re expected to return the favors of the people that donated to them. It’s expected. They don’t have to do anything for the voters. It’s not expected.
And then we have the influence of the two party mechanisms. Both the Dems and the GOP have set up extensive, money-raising operations in the state. These aren’t meant to get any candidates elected. Instead, they’re meant to enrich top party members.
Just follow the money.
We know for the 2022 cycle, Montana Democrats have received $225,000 from their national party counterpart while Republicans have received $116,000 from theirs.
And then you get the heads of these local outfits. Sheila Hogan is overseeing the Dems currently, and she makes $5,650 a month to do that, or $68,000 a year.
Last summer, Danielle Tribble took over as the executive director for the Montana GOP (Don K is the chairman). She makes $4,570 a month, or $54,840 a year.
The Dem ED makes $13,000 more a year than the GOP ED, but I have a feeling every major GOP candidate in the state will win this year while every major Dem candidate will lose.
Tribble should get a $13,000 bonus when that happens, and every influential GOP party member in the state should write a letter to their local newspaper highlighting this.
Of course, we know full-well you can never shame a Democrat into changing. You can point out how much they lose, how much money they spend doing so, and how much they enrich themselves in the process…and they’ll never care.
Pride and ego are the hallmarks of Montana Democrats these days; you’ll never get in the way of that.
So what will Sheila Hogan do after the monumental November losses? Nationally, Dems will lose Congress. Here in Montana, both congressional seats will go red and the legislature will get even more red. Dems might even lose the Supreme Court.
But Sheila will still make her $5,650 that month.
And after that? She’ll likely step down a few months after the election, on a quiet news day Friday. Then another top party official that can never win an elected office on her own will be selected to fill that spot.
Dems always choose a woman to lead them. They’re sexist that way.
But even if they had a man in charge, they wouldn’t do any better. Their message sucks. It doesn’t resonate with Montana voters.
They hope the cities will grow enough to outvote the rural areas; they hope enough liberal transplants from California will turn the state blue.
I don’t think so.
71% of Independents don’t want Biden to run again. Independents decide elections.
It’s clear the Democrats in this country are going to lose big. They should do some soul-searching, perhaps try to figure out why issues such as shared bathrooms, men in women’s sports, abortion on demand, wide open borders, and out of control gas prices don’t resonate.
But they won’t.
So the GOP will win.
