I think I have the service industry vote wrapped-up.
You know...all those people that typically don’t vote.
It’s not because they don’t know the candidates, aren’t knowledgeable about the issues, or don’t know what’s going on.
It’s because they never had anyone worth voting for before.
That’s changed this year.
I cannot begin to tell you the number of ‘uninformed’ voters that have come up to me, congratulated me on my run, before telling me they hope I win, and then saying they’re voting for me.
Hundreds.
I’ve yet to meet a single person that’s going to vote for Engen. Most people tell me they cannot stand him, that he needs to go, that he’s a cancer on this community.
I tell everyone my chances are miniscule; they tell me Engen’s got to go.
This is what I hear everyday.
What are the other candidates hearing?
When it comes to Engen...we don’t know. He sticks to his safety bubble, with yes-men that tell him no-wrong. I’ll be honest - he’s clueless. So many people tell me he’s corrupt, profiting off the city’s development deals. So many people!
Elder sticks to Facebook, where he typically gets 80-100 comments per post. Lately he’s been copy-pasting my ideas about the debt and the budget...as I expected. It’s why I ran - to make this incredibly weak candidate stronger.
And my is he weak. Nothing shows your weakness like blocking people on social media. It’s not that they’re attacking him, or that he just disagrees with him.
No, these folks have the audacity to ask questions.
And then Elder has this silly idea that once the election is over, he’ll be more transparent, talk about where the money’s going. As if he can’t do that now.
He could, but his ego is getting in the way.
Ever notice that 90% of Elder’s posts contain a manicured picture of himself, very front in center?
Ego = Edging God Out.
And then we have Shawn Knopff...the guy that ran because he promised himself four years ago that if no serious candidate ran, he would.
And he’s the least serious of us all, unable to file a campaign finance report as required by law, and unable to put even the most basic website or Facebook account up to let the public know who you are.
I’m sorry, but the late filing time and his lack of intention make me believe this is just an Engen-plant.
Knopff has done nothing to prove otherwise.
3 weeks late on his campaign finance report. If it was a Republican, they’d have been thrown off the ballot already.
But he’s a Democrat, so the rules don’t apply.
I’ll be in contact with COPP this week about this issue. I’d rather just talk to the candidate directly, but he’s made it impossible to contact him.
Well, that’s not quite true. He did put his phone number on his candidate declaration form, so I called him today.
He actually answered, I identified myself, and asked why he hadn’t filed a campaign finance report.
He said it’s because he doesn’t have any money to declare.
I said that doesn’t matter - by law, he was required to file a report on June 21. He said no. I saw no point in arguing the truth with this man, so said alright, thanks for your time, and hung up.
Like I said, he’s not a serious candidate.
Sometimes I’m met with anger, with my decision to run.
Laughs, taunts, ridicule...they wonder why I’m running, because they say Engen can never lose.
Wow, that’s one helluva democracy we have, where you have a 20-year politician that can never lose.
That’s wrong.
Most think I have no chance, and a few weeks ago, I would have agreed with them.
But things have changed. The world has changed, and it’s only going to change more. God has amazing plans coming forth in a very short period of time. I’d encourage you to ‘re’-read the book of Jeramiah.
A few weeks ago I’d have said that Engen will coast to an easy victory.
Now, I don’t think he has a chance of winning.
So...what’s changed?
Everything.
I could point to all kinds of budget items, news stories, or even give you local sob stories about people forced from their homes.
But that’s just what you ‘see’ on the surface.
What’s going on beneath, or above...or in between?
What’s the Lord doing?
It’ll take the inspectors with their fine-toothed combs months to go through that rubble to find the cause of the collapse.
For many of us, the cause is obvious - we’ve lost our way, we’ve become Godless heathens that care more about the quest for flesh than saving our souls.
Surfside in Florida was only the beginning, a warning. Of course, saying such will just garner you laughter and ridicule, much the way running against the ‘unbeatable’ Engen will.
Let them laugh.
They have no idea what’s coming.
“They will fight you, but they will fail. For I am with you, and I will take care of you. I, the Lord, have spoken!” Jeremiah 1:19
