It turned into several pages.
I wanted to start with Trump, but maybe we’ll just jump into it.
So let’s consider the governor’s race.
Currently we see that Gianforte is throwing another $500,000 of his own money into the race.
Why?
Why do you need all this money…and why can’t you raise that money from others?
I think we know the answer to the first one – to bombard us with propaganda in our mailboxes, on our TVs and on our radios.
The answer to the second question is a bit more difficult.
I mean…why can’t Gianforte raise money?
To take it further, why did Nelson get 34,000 votes in the primary against Gianforte?
I think the easy answer to both questions is that Montana Republicans don’t like Gianforte.
Oh, some do, but not all.
And notice that I didn’t say they don’t think he can win, they don’t like his money, or anything else.
I said they don’t like him.
Many do, especially the ones he pays.
These are typically other politicians, most of whom get a salary from Gianforte in the off-season (think Laszloffy) or campaign contributions.
Some of them have the prospect of a cabinet position dangled in front of them, and my how this makes them jump.
Still, Gianforte has a lot of GOPers not giving him money and a lot that are voting for the other guy.
Right now we have about 100 days until the election.
What if Gianforte doesn’t win?
I’ve said many times, he’ll be back in ’18 to go at Tester, and – should Democrats’ dreams of Trump imploding come true – Tester is toast.
The reason is simple – a Dem will be elected president and in the off-year midterms Democrats will take a shellacking.
This is how it always goes and I don’t see it going any different this cycle.
So if Hillary wins Tester is out in ’18 but if Trump wins Tester will hang on.
Loads of corporate cash, dark money, and propaganda could change that outcome, and I feel Tester will double-down hard on it.
He’s no different than Burton Wheeler in 1946.
Zinke will of course want to go for Tester’s seat but with Gianforte and his money still in the picture, he can’t.
No Montana Republicans can go against Gianforte because he holds the Party’s purse strings.
In that regard, the greatest coup a young Montana Republican could make would be to take Gianfore out in the 2018 primary, just as Leif Erickson took out Wheeler in ’46.
You can count on one hand how many people in the state know that kind of ancient political history, however, and that’s why I’m sure we’ll see it repeated.
Now, Zinke could lose to Juneau but I’m not counting on it.
Currently Juneau is getting all miffed off and red in the face that Zinke is not coming out and speaking against Trump’s gold star family comments.
So what?
If I was Zinke I’d let Juneau foam at the mouth as much as she wants. What good will it do her?
She can’t even get the base out to vote and the Indians don’t have the numbers to carry her through.
The gays in Missoula won’t do it and any kind of loyalties her mother has up there in Browning sure won’t make a dent.
I don’t know what Democrats were thinking putting up a gay, Indian woman for this office, but what does it matter?
In 2014 they put up a clean-cut white guy and he did just as bad as everyone else that’s run for that seat since Pat Williams went for his early pension.
And please, don’t give me any nonsense that Nancy Keenan is some golden child for that type of race – the only reason she did so good in 2000 was because of all the Nader supporters voting down-ticket.
I don’t see Juneau doing any better than any other Democrat that’s run for that seat.
Democrats gave up most of the state decades ago and they haven’t tried to get them back.
I don’t think they know how, and instead of thinking and talking about it, they just consider this the new reality.
So sad.
And now, Trump.
I still plan on voting for Trump.
If I had to change my percentages it might look like this:
- Trump: 60%
- Johnson: 30%
- Stein: 10%
Maybe Johnson moved up a bit since last time.
That’s probably because of the gold star military family/Khan family comments.
I’m sure you’ve read about it, but let’s rehash.
- A Muslim family had a son that fought in our foreign wars and died.
- Hillary invited the parents to speak at the Democratic Convention.
- The family – the husband and father, to be specific – then went after Trump.
- The next day, Trump went after them.
I guess the big thing is that you can’t go after a family who had a son killed in action?
Why the hell not?
They got onto the political stage in front of millions to push a political message?
Why can’t you go after that?
And what did Trump say that was so bad?
“If you look at his wife, she was standing there. She had nothing to say. She probably, maybe she wasn't allowed to have anything to say. You tell me.”
Wow, the corporate media and Democratic fanatics had a fun time with that one.
I thought it was pretty obvious from the wife’s appearance that she’s treated like shit.
That’s what Islam is all about – treating women like shit.
They have to cover up so only their husbands can see them, and I imagine that really works wonders on their self-image.
What I love about this so much is that Trump is speculating on why the wife didn’t talk.
She later said she was still grieving and that’s why.
Now that’s Trump’s fault too – she’s grieving so he can’t speculate on why she didn’t talk.
What a load of rubbish.
Mainly, fuck it.
Just fuck it.
There’s no real positive spin you can put on this, so why even bother?
Just move one, say fuck it, and say fuck you too.
Fuck you!
Fuck you corporate media and Democratic Hillary supporters and warmongers that send young Khans out to die.
God, we could talk about the senselessness of wars, but instead we’ll focus on this one family.
That way we can ensure that everything stays the same and that more and more families can lose their sons and get a chance to speak at fancy Democratic events too.
It’s the status quo, and Trump broke it spectacularly.
Will they let him forget it?
You fucking bet.
That’s all the corporate media does – lets you forget things.
I mean, what were the headlines a month ago, or even two weeks ago?
Just like your kid and their last exam in school, you have no idea.
What, you’re supposed to remember all that shit?
Please!
We don’t even remember that meeting between Bill and Loretta on the tarmac and most have forgotten Melania’s speech.
You think we’ll remember this bullshit story in a week or two?
If you do, I feel you give Americans way too much credit.
Hell, we don’t even have the 9-second attention span of a goldfish.
So fuck the Khans and fuck the wars and most of all, fuck these politicians.
My how they love themselves.
Doesn’t do too much good if you’re one of the tens of thousands of military families that aren’t the Khans.
If you’re one of them, fuck you.
That’s America for you – fuck you.
Yes, Trump still has my vote...big time.
