I’m not at all surprised by this.
I saw this thread on Reddit a few days ago:
The guy mentioning how Elder blocks people on social media got 24 upvotes on his comment. The guy that says Elder is a super nice guy that answers all your questions got voted down 10 times. (The Biden comment makes it clear this is a very liberal crowd).
John Engen’s gotta be pig-in-mud happy about all this. Instead of highlighting his two decades of failed leadership, the opposition is just fighting itself. What a gift!
Jacob Elder is in serious trouble.
I typed his name into Bing and the post I wrote about him called Jacob Elder is Done is the 4th result on the page, just below his two websites and his Facebook page.
The post has zero likes on Facebook, zero shares on Twitter...so how is that even possible?
Oh, that’s right...Big Tech isn’t God.
Or are they?
You know I stopped using Google about a year ago. I went to that cesspit today, typed in “Jacob Elder,” and got wildly different results.
With that search engine, my post is the 15th result, not the 4th.
The first result is still his website, but after that we get the Missoula Current and the Missoulian, both with headlines about the sexual misconduct charges.
On Bing, those charges don’t even appear on the first page. In fact, we don’t hear about them until the 19th result on Page 2 of the search, which is when the Missoulian appears.
Why is this? Why do we get wildly different results after typing the exact same name into two different search engines?
Why?
And why is it that a nobody spending zero dollars can get their post so far up the search results, compared to an actual candidate that’s probably going to spend hundreds of dollars with Google and Facebook this year?
I don’t know.
(92% of all searches are done with Google. Bing gets about 3%).
What I do know is that we have a week until filing, and it’s pretty obvious that no one else is going to file.
At this point, I don’t even want to vote in the municipal elections this fall.
In my ward, I have the nepononistic son of the city attorney running against a guy that lost big time to Engen’s treasurer two years ago.
On top of this we have three judges who I could give a flying fuck about, and trust me...the feeling is mutual.
The only thing left will probably be some silly bond that has no chance of failing, and then the two clowns running for mayor.
No, there’s no reason to vote this year, none at all.
