Called up the MT Dems again today.
I wanted to ask about their finances…the same as last week.
Guess they must have entered my number into their system, as I did not get the usual ‘dial your extension’ message. Instead the phone just rang for 50 times before cutting me off.
When I called back 10 minutes later, it was the same story.
I dunno…maybe they’re over at the Capitol, cheering-on their early filers and getting those oh-so-important images of candidates handing in their paperwork to the Secretary of State.
Or maybe they just don’t want to talk to me.
Fear.
Like I said last week…I wish ‘real’ reporters like Mike Dennison would ask the MT Dems about their finances.
Our ‘real’ reporters refuse to do this, however.
I got into a Facebook conversation yesterday with the Flathead Democrats. I’d put that graph image of the MT Dems’ finances on one of their posts, and they took offense.
“They work really hard,” was the message I got from the Flathead Dems, and they deserve those salaries.
I mentioned that the MT GOP is actually having candidate workshops and charging for those, brining in money for GOP county groups. I also mentioned that MT Dems only seem to have parties in bars, crying into their beer over Hillary’s loss and their inability to have any kind of impact in the state.
Didn’t get a response to that, but I was further told that the MT Dems are thinking about opening up more field offices, and they need staff. The Flathead Dems thought I should apply.
I guess this is the Tester money. We know that the MT Dems spend more money than they take in each month, so they don’t have the money to help out anyone but themselves.
So it must be the Tester money.
That’s another sad point about this year – Tester’s election is the only election that matters, and all money will flow to him.
If/When he wins, MT Dems can say they succeeded…despite another year of monumental legislative losses.
All of those 10 staffers in MT Dem’s Sixth Street HQ will keep their jobs; all will say they had a successful year.
And then 6 weeks later the 2019 Legislature will start, and with it the usual Dem complaints that they can’t get what they want.
Well…what you wanted was for Tester to win, and you’ll likely have gotten that. That’s what you spent your money on; that’s where you put your time.
If the health of the state was so important to you, then why didn’t you put your money where your mouth is?
Well, MT Dems do put their money where their mouth is:
They spent over $3,000 eating out in restaurants 81 times last month.
I mentioned this to the Flathead Democrats, and again…I was told the MT Dems work really hard and are doing a good job.
This is great for the GOP.
You can tell quite clearly that MT Dems aren’t going to be winning any statewide offices anytime soon. They won’t be taking the legislature for years, if not decades.
MT Dems know this, and that’s why they funnel all donations to themselves, giving zero to the actual candidates.
Remember, these are candidates that care about the state and want to make it better for future generations.
The staffers at MT Dem HQ – many of whom are from out-of-state – only care about making their own lives better.
That’d be fine if they actually had real jobs out in the real world…but these people actually make their money from the $5-here, $10-there donations.
Remember, these donations only come about because of the never-ending, the-sky-is-falling emails the Party continually sends you.
I feel sorry for my home state, a state my great-grandparents came to in the 1890s. My family’s been in Helena for over 120 years, and most of those folks called themselves Democrats.
I wonder what they’d think of the Party today. I wonder what they’d think of its self-aggrandizement over actually helping the people on the ground.
Would they go over to the GOP…a Party that actually talks about working people and giving them more money and making their lives better?
I can’t help but think they would.
It’ll be fun to see all the Dem candidates line up over the next two months, hoping to hell they can get elected so they can ‘help people.’
None will question their own Party; none will ask the tough questions; none will make an effort to really change things.
All will attack the other Party; all will fall in line; all will put their smiles on and pucker up their lips to kiss ass so they can ‘move up’ in the Party.
Meanwhile, you and I – two working stiffs actually keep this state running – will see the prices for our groceries and gas go up while our wages remain the same as they were years ago.
Expect to see MT Dems attacking everyone and anyone for their problems. Don’t for one second expect them to look at themselves to realize where the real problem lies.
Denial.
