I haven’t had a cigarette since November 4.
Almost a year.
Last October I paid $50 for a stop-smoking hypnosis seminar.
I got 26 hours out of that before I had another cigarette. I could have asked for my money back, but 26 hours was pretty good.
A couple weeks later I used the patch. After three days I stopped using it and haven’t smoked since. I think some of the hypnosis ideas stuck.
I tell you all this so you know I have no dog in this pony show. Smoking? Doesn’t really concern me much anymore. But personal liberty, and the ability of adults to make their own decisions about their bodies...well, that does concern me.
This week Bullock decided Montana would become the 8th state to ban vaping and e-cigarettes.
HIs decision has more to do with lifting up his flagging presidential campaign than it does about Montana health.
The truth is that not a single e-cigarette has been linked to the 23 vaping-related deaths. When NBC News recently analyzed THC vaping products, they found that all the legal THC cartridges tested fine; it was the black market cartridges that had contaminants, mainly a substance that breaks down into cyanide when heated.
So the risk comes from the black market, and now Bullock will create a whole new black market here in Montana come October 22.
You can’t fix stupid.
Around 1,100 people have become ill due to vaping products, again...most being black market. Just two people have become sick in Montana, and no one has died.
It’s figured that 41 million people vaped last year. It’s figured that we had anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 vape shops...way back in 2014.
Here in Missoula we have at least 5 shops that sell vaping products, and three of those sell vape products and nothing else.
Those shops are the ones that will close in two weeks.
The effect of this ban for small Montana businesses will be horrific.
One vape shop here in Missoula will surely have to close its doors come October 22, fire all its employees, and liquidate its assets. The owner of the shop and his wife just had a new daughter. Now they’ll have all kinds of financial worries as well, and heading into the holiday season.
Thanks, Steve.
I just don’t think we’re really looking at the big health problems in this country.
Like I said, 23 people have died from smoking black market THC vape pens so far. I haven’t seen anything about people dying from smoking just nicotine vape pens - most used both nicotine and THC pens.
So what?
23 people?
We know that 34 million people in this country smoke, which is about 14% of the population. It’s figured that 480,000 die from smoking-related illnesses each year.
So what?
160 million Americans are too fat, and 300,000 of them die each year because of this. Why isn’t Bullock closing down the fast food places, the ice cream shops, and the soda bottling plants?
Well, that would of course be silly, now wouldn’t it!?! And besides, we all know that adults can think for themselves and put into their bodies what they want.
Personally, I don’t like it when others tell me what I can or can’t do with my body. I guess Democrats only care about that argument when it applies to women getting abortions.
I mean, back in 2015 we know that 638,000 women had abortions in this country.
238,000 more young people are dying each year from abortions than they are from smoking. But that’s not the issue, and Dems will fight tooth and nail to keep the abortion industry alive.
Women have a choice - smokers do not.
Once Greg becomes governor next year, I suspect women won't have that choice for long. Oh well - tell it to a smoker...maybe they'll commiserate with you.
