Well, let’s take a look at some Montana businesses that are making quality products.
Perhaps some are good for stocking stuffers, others for larger gifts. Either way, it’s a unique gift idea that’s not corporate.
Some you can buy online and others you have to buy at a local store. Still, you’re buying from a Montana business.
I know you like the idea of that so let’s get started.
#1 Bequet Caramel
The company started in 2001 and is based out of Bozeman.
They sell in a lot of places in Montana. Sadly, they do not sell from their website.
Hopefully we’ll see them overcome this hurdle in 2016. For now, consider clicking on “where to buy” to see a map of your area and stores that carry their product.
#2 Breweries in Montana
Still, it can be hard to follow all the Montana breweries today. They open so quick that there might be some in your area that you don’t know.
That’s why checking out the Montana Brewer’s Association is the way to go. They have this cool map that shows all the breweries around the state:
As you can see, that’s a very small section of the map. There are 47 breweries on there and most of them have websites.
Going to one of my old favorites, Bayern Brewing here in Missoula, you can see that they have tons of merchandize.
Whether it’s a t-shirt, growler, or cool poster or print.
If I wanted to head over to eastern Montana I might check out Wolf Point’s Missouri Breaks Brewing. They also have some cool merchandize, including a 15 gallon keg.
As you can see, there are lots of options for the beer enthusiast, and you don’t even have to buy beer. I hope you think about some of these businesses this Christmas season.
#3 Distilleries in Montana
Montana has lots of distilleries and buying your favorite spirit locally is a great way to keep your hard-earned cash in state.
I’m not going to name any specific businesses in this section, but I will say check out the Montana Department of Agriculture’s distilleries section.
They list tons of places, like:
- Whistling Andy, Inc. in Bigfork;
- Trailhead Spirits in Billings;
- Headframe Spirits in Butte;
- Willie’s Distillery in Ennis.
Well dang, I guess I mentioned a bunch of businesses. Why not Google them and see if they have a website. Perhaps you’ll find something worth buying.
And remember, there’s no firm rule that says you can’t get yourself a gift this year.
#4 Distinctly Montana Gifts
This site is more of a shopping site that allows you to buy tons of different Montana products. It’s run by a family that’s been in-state for 16 years now.
I especially like the Under $35 section and the cool Hand-Drawn Map of Montana they have there. There are also some cool Montana tree ornaments on that page and some groovy bottle openers.
All in all, you’ll find tons of great Montana stuff here, which is a really cool way to buy gifts for your out-of-state friends and family.
I hope you’ll give this site a look and keep some of that online shopping money under the Big Sky this season.
#5 Glacier County Honey
One place to get that honey is at Glacier County Honey. My wife buys honey a lot so this is a good thing for me to buy.
Since honey has so many healthy qualities, it’s good for everyone however. And for people with real sweet tooths that are overweight, this is a good option.
They have a lot of stuff too, such as beeswax, candles, ornaments, apparel and more.
Why not check out their site and see if you can do some local online shopping this year.
#6 Hurraw! Balm
Why not put some Montana made lip balm on them?
That’s what you’ll get with Hurraw! The company is based out of Whitefish and you can order on their site.
I don’t really know – is $3.79 expensive for lip balm?
I don’t think about this stuff. I guess I’m the kind that would rather let someone buy this for me. Since the balm is organic, I like it even better.
Hey, that’s what Christmas is for. Check out the site to buy a few for your stocking stuffers – it helps the state (of your lips).
#7 Made in Montana
I’m sure you remember those cool logos we used to see. Sadly, they’ve fallen by the wayside a bit.
The site has tons of products, but it’s kind of hard to navigate. Perhaps it’s just a good one to get an idea of what you can buy.
Still, if you click and scroll around enough you’ll find some cool things. It’s well worth a look for those hard-to-please people on your list.
#8 The Sweet Palace
They’re located in Philipsburg and have tons of candy. Again, this is great stuff for stocking stuffers. It’s also great for grandparents.
You know you love the faces of your kids when they see you give your grandkids a shit-ton of candy.
Damn, they hate it don’t they?
It’s nice getting back at ‘em for those teenage years.
So in that spirit of the season, why not give yourself a real gift on Christmas morning.
Get some Sweet Palace candy, lots of it, and sit back and smile.
Other Montana Online Holiday Shopping Ideas
The Top 10 Made in Montana Gifts For Holiday Shopping was a post put up just a few days ago on Glacier Country Montana Blog by Montana Tia.
It lists some good gifts, like:
- Huckleberry anything;
- Sapphires;
- Hand-painted artwork;

- Montana-lovin’ jewelry.
There’s a lot more sites, a lot more links to Montana small businesses. I’d check it out for more holiday shopping ideas.
Other than that, I hope this post helped you come up with some Montana online shopping ideas.
