Well, I think it’s because of the post I put up about writing advice books. That’s already gotten up to about 600 hits in just 2 days – not too shabby!
So I figure, why not just show some of my stats? After all, each month I take two screenshots like this one below, and have been since this site started.
Here’s the one from a year ago - March 31, 2013:
- A year ago I had 274 hits on my homepage in a month. This year I have 2,298 and the month’s only half-way over.
- A year ago I had 9 hits from Google in a month. Today I’ve had 913, and there’re still many days to go.
- A year ago I had no one linking to me. Today I’ve got major social media sites linking to me big-time, as well as popular blogs and even respected news sites.
None of that was done with advertising, analytics reports, or fancy SEO services. All of it was done one word at a time, with a complete focus on unique and original content and nothing else.
Yes, I’d say I’ve come a long way.
Or have I?
You might remember me mentioning about talking to my brick wall, Dillinger, a few months back. Honestly, that’s about the only person it still feels like I’m talking to most days.
The site still has few comments, but I kind of like that – what else is there to say? I also no longer have the urge to comment on a lot of comments.
Nope, instead I kind of like talking to myself. I guess others like to come by and perhaps crouch down below the open window to listen to me talk, but rarely will they make themselves known.
Anyways, I just thought some people might be interested in this. If you’ve been reading this site since it started – good job! I think there’s only one person that’s been doing that, my dad. Well, thanks!
And for the rest of you? Gosh, maybe it’d be best just to stay down below that window. After all, I’m thinking of putting up videos soon.
