Yeah, I don’t care about you. I never cared about you. I care about myself, like all good Americans should, and no one else. Isn't that the attitude most writers out there have?
No, then why are sites left and right taking on this attitude? Blog after blog is being abandoned in favor of guest posters, much to the chagrin of their fans.
But there’s lots of writing advice on this site, Greg. Listen, pal – that advice is useless.
It won’t help you sell a single book so I’d go to some other sites, perhaps those run by big time authors that can actually back up their advice with sales. I can’t do that, so best be on your way.
Right now I get about 1,200 hits a day on this site and I’d like to get that back down to around 600. Fewer people would be even better.
Why? Because I don’t care. I don’t care if my site goes up in the Google rankings, I don’t care if my site gets any advertising money, and I don’t care if you or anyone else reads this rubbish I put out.
Folks, this was the same attitude I had a year ago when I started - look where it's gotten me.
Yes, I write rubbish that won't help you sell books, so please go away now. Actually, what the hell are you doing reading this still? Shouldn't you be at the bigger and better site, you know, the ones shouting out that they have all the answers?
See, it's a complete waste of my time writing this blog. There's really no benefit to me at all. In that regard, it's just costing me time and resources that I could be using on money-making ventures - like selling you answers I don't have.
I don’t care about the visitors or users of this blog because there are none. Sure, 1,200 people might visit each day, but I’ll be lucky to get one comment on a post. That’s just a waste of my time - there's no return on investment.
Have you bought my books? I didn’t think so, so what use is it for me to write this writing blog?
Writers, what good are you to me as visitors? None. You’re absolutely worthless to me. I derive no satisfaction from you, mainly because I don’t even know you exist. I will never visit your site because of this. I’m not visiting it now because I have no idea you exist – why the hell would I ever visit it, ever buy your book, or ever even think about you?
I won’t, so why are you wasting your time here? What are you looking for? You don’t know, do you? Well, how the can I help you then? Remember...big sites!
Listen – if you're a writer, get your act together. There comes a time when all advice will be meaningless to you. After a time you surpass those giving advice. Most sites I went to a year ago are now worthless to me, even the large and helpful sites. They have nothing more to teach me, and that goes the same here.
But for you I bet they've got a lot. Go to them now, they call you, you can't refuse!
In case you haven't noticed, there's a big trend to stop writing content, focus on guest posts, and generally watch your blog to to hell. Have you noticed this yet? I guess we're reading different sites.
So, to go along with the crowd, let me say...There’s nothing for you here – go away and find another site with the answers to your writing questions.
