Alright, you’re a self-published author…I just wanted to make sure.
Now, perhaps a more interesting question is…what you ever gotten pissed about the reviews that don’t appear on your books?
No, I’m not talking about the 8,376 reviews you want to have, I’m talking about those reviews that you know should show up, but don’t.

Last Friday I got the following email from my mom:
well, I tried, since you want reviews....Amazon no like! wtf?
What is she talking about? This reviews she wrote for my book Ale Quest:

Wow, I’m very surprised my mom read this book! It obviously must stem from that free giveaway I did a couple weeks back, and the post I wrote about it.
Unfortunately, Amazon refused to publish that review, as they told her when she complained to them:

I wasn’t aware this was going on at all, not until my mom emailed me in frustration at not seeing her review. I mean, all she wanted to do was write a 26-word review and get on with her life.
Amazon told her to go fuck herself.
I emailed Amazon after that, to figure out why they won’t allow my mom to leave a review on my book. This is what they told me:

Amazon will not post reviews it doesn't like, because it doesn't like them.
So I pushed them, and asked them to give me more information. Plus I emailed them the screenshot my mom had sent me of her review. This is what I was told:
Amazon won't allow reviews from your friends or family, only strangers...or people you pay.
So I guess if I tell people on my blog that my book is free and that they should download it and leave a review, this is alright. But if one of those people happens to be friend or a family member, and Amazon can follow their IP Address and prove this, then it’s not alright.
In other words, so long as you’re an author with no family and no friends, Amazon will be your friend.
If you’re a normal human being, however, Amazon really has no use for you.
