Many of you know that I wrote a book about blog tours a couple months ago, and now I finally have one coming up myself.
This blog tour is being conducted by Goddess Fish Tours, which is one of the better blog tour sites I mentioned in my guest post on The Book Designer called 7 Top Blog Tour Sites.
So what book am I touring? I’m going with Tarot Card Killer, a book that’s really gotten little attention since being released in December. I did some advertising with Bargainbooksy on it a month or so ago, and managed to get about 20 sales from that which was a lot better than usual.
Will I do the same with this tour? I hope I’ll do better, but we’ll see. I’m not discounting the book, so any sales I do get should be lucrative at least.

On this site I’m just doing some simple posts, really a Sunday deal the tour site lets people do from time to time. I got invited to this, and I’ll put up four short posts (150 words) throughout the day. It should be interesting, and unconventional.

On this site I’m talking about my writing routine, what projects I have in the works, and some simple writing advice. I’m honestly not expecting a whole lot from this site as Tarot Card Killer isn’t really mentioned much at all. Well, I wrote the post, so that was my choice.

I got notice about this site just today, but I was still able to whip off a great article, one that I think may now be the best. On this site I'll interview Vlad the Impaler, the famous serial killer (would that be right?) from the 1450s. If you like the Dead Author Interview series on this site you might enjoy this short, 450 word post.

I’m really looking forward to this stop, as I wrote a killer article for it, one that’s pushing 1,300 words. In this post we’ll compare Tarot readings to palm readings, seeing which might be able to tell your future better. I really think a lot of people will find some interesting information here.

On this site I’ll be talking about The Hidden Hong Kong. What’s that? Well, I lived right across the border from Hong Kong for 5 years, and visited the city often. I saw all kinds of weird stuff, and I talk a bit about it in this post. Stop by to be amazed!
Friday, March 7 – Blood Moons and Nightscapes
This post is my shortest, just about 250 words, and it discusses my motivation for writing Tarot Card Killer. I tried to make it a bit humorous, and my biggest fear is that readers will mistake it for a Qingdao beer ad. Perhaps you’ll judge for yourself this week.

Considering I don't talk about my personal life too much on this site, well, this might be of interest to some of you. It's just another topic that was sent out to me. I like working with Goddess Fish because you get many choices when it comes to your guest posts, something other sites don't always do.

Are Blog Tours Worth It?
So how much did this blog tour cost? Just $45! Yeah, I thought that was a pretty good deal, but maybe I’ll think differently come Friday.
It’s really hard to say, mainly because it’s hard to say how much of a long-tail this tour will have. Just like you might go into a bookstore, see a cool book, and then not buy it for months or even years after the fact, so too will many people follow that same route after seeing these posts.
See, it’s really hard to measure eBook advertising. Sure, you might get some immediate sales, and I’m sure I’ll pick up a few, but what about those sales 6 months from now? Let’s say I do no more advertising on this book. Well, could some of those sales have originated with this tour? See, it’s pretty tough to say.

I went ahead and typed each of these sites into Alexa, a tool that gives you a rough idea how much traffic they’re getting. It’s by no means the best tool out there, but it’s free.

Mainly, though, it’s about finding an audience. See, I don’t think any of you really care about my Tarot novel. But Goddess Fish, a site that’s done more than 1,200 blog tours, thinks these sites have visitors and users that do. And that’s why I’m going to be on them.
Again, for $45, is it really that bad of a deal?
Well, regardless of that, I enjoyed writing these posts, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading them.

- Blood Moons had no ranking, which I’m not surprised by this as it’s part of Blogger and doesn’t often rank.
- Andi’s Book Reviews gets about 5 to 7 times less traffic than my site gets.
- Brook Blogs does a lot better than me.
- Linda Mercury has no ranking, but this might be something to do with it being on Blogger as well.
- And finally Goddess Fish does a little better in me with traffic.
