For awhile now I’ve been thinking of doing a series called “The Vigilante Justice Series.” When I was looking around Go On Write a couple weeks ago I came across this cover. Well, it really shouted out to me and I started to think of a story to go with it.
I knew right when I saw the cover that the book had to be called Black Walnut, and that the main character had to be someone fighting against the forces of racism, police corruption, and poverty. And so I started writing, and got the cover just the other day. Here it is:

Right now I’ve got two different designs for it, and I’m still unsure which is best. I’m leaning toward the second because the title’s a little larger and that’ll be easier for readers to see when it’s a small thumbnail size. If you’d like to put in your two cents please do in the comments!

The Saga of Black Walnut
Anyways, this should be a real bang-up, knock-down and take-no-prisoners kind of book. It’s about a young black teen named Tray Knight that’s walking home from a friend’s house one night. Police stop him and end up shooting him. It’s a real media shit storm and, well, you know how things can go, and the cops get off.
And that’s when Black Walnut steps in. If you’ve seen the movie Taxi Driver then you’ll love Black Walnut. It’s a bloody short novella that will probably offend a lot of people. But for anyone looking for a quick read that really puts a smile on your face and gets your adrenaline going, Black Walnut is for you.

I’m still writing Black Walnut, and you can see the progress meter on the home page. I’m shooting for 20,000 words on this one and will probably price it at $0.99 to $1.99.
