I have some new covers for my Warring States Series of books. I first started getting these images several months ago, and I contracted a wonderful artist named Francisco Ruiz.
He lives in Chile and I profiled him in a post called Another Bunch of Cool eBook Cover Artists. I highly encourage you to check out his work. He charges $150 to $200 for images usually, though if you negotiate maybe you can get a deal.
Alright, let’s take a look at what Francisco was able to do for me. It all started out with me giving him some written ideas, and then he gave me a sketch. I approved that and we went from there.

I had another person do the text layout work, someone on Freelancer. That was an extra $20 or so.
I went ahead and got two covers at the same time, and then I had to wait another month before I had the money to get the third.

The whole process, from ideas to uploaded covers, went from about March to June. It took about a month of total time to get the images done.
Overall, I think I got a really good deal. I had to get new covers, as I wanted to get these books into print format. They’re all in print format now, and I feel good knowing I have covers I can legally use. My old covers were always a bit sketchy, with designers I didn’t’ really trust. They certainly weren’t custom art, like this awesome art.
