I got 138,866 words written for the month and I had more than 30 different writing and editing projects from people all over the world.
That allowed me to make a lot of money from writing, although not as much as last month, my most profitable. Still, I’m able to keep writing full-time, which means I don’t have to get a job at McDonald’s.
So what are the highlights of the month? I’m glad you asked!
Promotional eBook Releases
Because the book proved so popular I decided to write another. On October 14 I put out Design Your Book: 75 eBook Cover Design Sites That Increase Amazon Sales. This book I didn’t put out on a free promo, and so it’s had very few sales. I also haven’t promoted it much, figuring that a lot of people buying Sell Your Book would be interested. So far that’s not worked out and I’ve only sold about 5 copies of the book, including overseas. Obviously I need to work on that one.
Promotional Work
I spent a lot of money doing this, too, hundreds of dollar. But that means for the first 2 weeks of November a lot of my books will be promoted. I’m interested to see what the results will be and if I’ll break even on my advertising, or even make a profit.
I can tell you from one promo I just ran a couple days ago, with Freebooksy, that what I have planned for November appears very promising. I’ll be sure to post regularly on this, staring in just a day or two with that Freebooksy eBook promo I did.
Work for Others
Menu Book: I worked with a guy in Australia this month on an eBook about digital menus. Now, maybe you’ve gone into one of these swanky restaurants that has iPads for menus now. I haven’t, but this guy was convinced of their future and thought an eBook the best way to get the word out. I did my best to help him, and we got a nice end-product.
- Instant Communication: I had one person contact me about writing a press release. I was a little hesitant, as my press release jobs haven’t gone too well lately. I showed him an old one I wrote and he said he liked it though, so we went ahead. His idea was for something called Instager that will allow people to see the message you’re typing over chat or whatnot. So instead of waiting you can actually see the words being typed. I guess I won’t be needing that ‘Enter’ key pretty soon!
- Hidden Knife: I had someone in Russia give me a job writing about hidden knives. These are the knives that you have hidden in your belt buckle and can then pull out if the need arises. This is really good if someone assaults you late at night while you’re walking to the car and you don’t have your gun. Sometimes you also forget and lock your gun in the car, and I know the thought of being unarmed drives some people crazy, so this might just be something to look into.
- Editing: I did a lot of editing work this month, a little non-fiction and a little fiction. Both are interesting to work on, and in this case both were interesting books. Oftentimes things just need another pair of eyes. I know how it can be editing your own work, and no one wants to read the book they wrote 10 times. That’s why I was glad to do this editing and why I provide editing and other Amazon author services.
Well, November looks to be another busy month. I’ve got a lot of promo stuff going on for my own books and I’m already doing some big projects for other people. It’s also NaNoWrimo so that means I should have a new novel by the time the next monthly report rolls around. I have a feeling that this coming month might just be my most lucrative, and busy, yet!
