- The ruble is dropping, oil prices are falling, and Russian citizens are on edge.
- What will Putin do?
- Did the US win?
Lot’s of questions, lots of speculation, few answers. What to do? You could take to Twitter and throw out a bunch of nonsense like this:
So I took a look at the link, but I didn’t see a video. Then I followed the Twitter username link back to Michael McFaul. Great, another one of these guys from Stanford (he’s been there since the 80s), just what Montana needs:
He knows as much as my wife does – and that’s what he can glean on the phone or on the internet.
Or did you want to argue that with me? Because I’ve got my Russian wife talking to “middle class” Russians that she knows, (just like as in America, I’m not sure that exists in Russia anymore either) and I’m betting McFaul here isn’t even talking to those people. If he’s talking to anyone, it’s those of privilege.
I could give a fuck about those with privilege, just like I could give a fuck about those with privilege here in America – they can take care of themselves just fine, and have been at my expense for generations.
No, I’m much more interested in the people on the ground, those on the front lines of poverty and the Obama sanctions. For never forget, we created this situation because we didn’t like how one country acted. And you remember that when the bombs start falling and we start sending troops over to wherever we’re fighting the Russians in the coming years. You remember that real good, and how we had to drive down the quality of life of the Russian “middle class” so our upper class – men like McFaul – could have their way.
It’s sick, it just makes me sick the audacity we display. Why can’t we mind our own fucking business for once? And don’t pull that shit out of your ass trying to bring up that downed airliner – you don’t care about that airplane or those Dutch people anymore than anyone else does.
No, you care about your Christmas presents, and how many you can buy for your friends and relatives, and if that’ll be enough so you can magically get a shit-ton of useless stuff yourself. That’s what’s happening in Russia right now, at least according to my wife.
The business between China and Russia was big for entrepreneurial-minded folks, and they could buy products cheaply in China online and then send them to Russia to make a profit. No longer, and that’s just one example of how exchange rates and currency devaluations are affecting all kinds of people.
I don’t know what my mother-in-law is going to do. She’s got a fixed-income of some sort, and owns her apartment, but gosh, food prices are going up now that money isn’t worth as much as it used to be.
But thankfully those Russian people will be free now, free of the tyranny they were living under. And they’ll have America to thank for that. With their shackles now undone, they’ll rush to us and welcome us with open arms. Life will be glorious.
