I was out knocking on doors, getting real close to 9 o’clock and quitting time, when I dropped my flashlight.
The incident occurred over on 7th Street or thereabouts, and it was a shocking blow. The sound of the hard Maglite flashlight hitting the sidewalk was enough to send shivers down any late-night walker’s spine.

After hitting the flashlight’s ‘On’ button, the device failed to start. I shook it and loosened it and swore at it, but all to no avail. The campaign looked finished.

After all, a tragedy like this could happen again, no matter how much I may protect against it.
All in all, that was a serious catastrophe averted in less than 24 hours. That’s the kind of leadership and problem-solving we need in the Montana Legislature, and I hope I get your vote.
