What I especially hope you’ve noticed, however, are the number of followers I have.
So how’d I get an extra 6,500 people to follow me over the past year? Simple, I followed some fast and easy social media principles of sharing relevant and quality content that people actually care about.
Mainly though, I got a bunch of people that aren’t interested in me to follow me. (Ugh…circle shares – if you’re on the network, you know what I mean) That’s one of the problems with Google+, and you get low engagement because of it. But boy, do you get some traffic boosts by sharing on Google+, as you can see from my May 2014 website traffic:
(In case you’re wondering what that spike in traffic on May 7 was, that was a story NBC ran on Tom Brokaw and his battle with cancer. When people look for Tom Brokaw and Montana, I get the lion’s share of the traffic, as I profiled in my post The Power of Evergreen Content).
Oh, and in case you noticed...Google+ can in no way compete with Facebook when it comes to referral traffic. I mean, more than 1,100 Facebook referrals this month compared to the 133 of Google+? Still, most of my traffic does come from Google, just the search engine, not the social network.
So what are the social media and marketing principles that you can use to get your site huge increases in traffic as well?
I’m happy to tell you that you’ll find them in my collection of social media, SEO and content marketing books.
So...what’s the catch? Um…All you’ve got to do is sign-up for my email list and you’ll get a PDF, .mobi, or .epub – there is no catch on that book (you can buy it too).
Thanks for reading, and good luck with your site!
